Colin Neighbourhood Partnership has teamed up with Good Morning Colin and the South Eastern Trust to ensure the elderly stay warm during the current cold weather snap.
Two hundred ‘Snuggie’ blankets have been bought and distributed to the elderly and vulnerable in the Colin and Dunmurry area. ‘Snuggies’ are soft fleece blankets with arms which provide essential heat when sitting at home.
Annie Armstrong explains the thoughts behind this project:
“The recent cold snap has affected everyone, and at times like this the elderly and vulnerable in society come under most risk. When it comes to older residents we always try to do something very tangible- some of you may remember the slipper amnesty from Christmas 2008. We felt that a project of this nature would help to ensure that those in greatest need would stay safe and warm until the weather starts to improve. We have had some great feedback from those who received their Snuggies, and everyone seems delighted with their new fleeces!”
The Snuggies have been delivered to existing customers of Good Morning Colin. If you would like to know more about the services that Good Morning Colin provide, please contact 028 9062 3183 for more information.
