CHANGING LIVES
Colin Neighbourhood Partnership, along with our two partner organisations, has secured substantial funding from the PEACE PLUS Programme for an exciting 4-year cross-border project. The project will provide early intervention support to families of children with queried neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and Autism. As the principal delivery partner in the North of Ireland, Colin Neighbourhood Partnership will employ a team to deliver the project across the Belfast, South Eastern and Northern Trust areas, with its main office in West Belfast and a second office in the Northern Trust area.
This is an ambitious project that aims from the outset to develop a new, longterm model of early intervention support to families, and sustainability of this model beyond the current funding will be a core objective from the outset.
JOB PURPOSE
The Psychologist will be responsible for the delivery of Psychologist-led Workshops and Training to parents and professionals; administering the Screening Programme in the CNP delivery area; and provision of advice, training and guidance to the Facilitator team. The Psychologist will also work alongside the Quality and Development Lead in Changing Lives’ Central team to measure outcomes for families availing of Project Interventions.
The Changing Lives Initiative will have two psychologists, one based with the Colin delivery team (this role) and the other with the Archways delivery team in the border counties. Both posts will mutually support each other, as this is a project based around collaboration between teams.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Delivery of Workshops to parents on a variety of topics such as ADHD and Autism. (Content of Workshops will be provided and training given)
· Administering and scoring of Screening Questionnaires, completed by parents in order to match them to the most appropriate Programmes / Interventions
· Provision of advice and guidance to the facilitator team, to support them in their delivery of interventions to families.
· Delivery of Information & Awareness Sessions to professionals including early years practitioners, education, health and social care workers
· Working alongside the Quality and Development Lead to measure outcomes for families availing of Project Interventions – supporting with the gathering and analysis of outcomes data
· Working alongside the Regional Manager in developing strong working relationships with relevant individuals and local agencies who engage with children/families experiencing neurodevelopmental conditions/concerns
· Work with the Regional Manager, to maximise knowledge of available follow-on supports and resources for families in the Project Area
· Work closely with counterpart in the Archways delivery team and colleagues in the Central Support Team to ensure consistency and quality of the project offerings across the Initiative
· Keep abreast of relevant developments at a national and international level in relation to Autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental conditions
· Provide a flexible approach to work as evening and potentially weekend work may be required
· Have access to suitable personal transport, as travel is required (for which an allowance is payable)
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS |
Essential: · Relevant third level qualification in the area of psychology Desired: · Post-graduate qualification in relevant area (e.g. social care, psychology, special education etc). |
EXPERIENCE |
Essential: · Minimum two years’ proven experience in a psychology role working with children, young people or families. · Knowledge of evidence-based prevention and early intervention approaches for working with children and families. Desired: · Experience of presenting to and/or facilitating group sessions (including any experience delivering remotely, e.g. online over Zoom} · Working experience and/or knowledge in the area of neurodevelopmental conditions including Autism and ADHD · Working knowledge of local services and agencies that work with children and families |
