After local schools designed colourful posters aimed at bicycle safety awareness, Colin Neighbourhood Partnership came to deliver the prizes to the winners in Colin.
Ciaran Boyd, CNP's Community Safety Officer, organised the competition between local students in primary 5 classes to help the young people of the Colin area practice safe cycling. Spring time can see an increase in young people cycling due to the clear, warm weather so it's important to keep our young people safe while they play.
The first stop was at Scoil Na Fuiseoige. Unfortunately, the first place winner wasn't in when we dropped in, but that didn't stop the other students' excitement when they found out they were all getting a surprise prize.

The next stop was at Holy Evangelist Primary School, where the three primary five classes huddled together with excitement to hear who had the winning poster.

The final stop of the competition was for St. Kieran's Primary School, where Ciaran gave out the prizes to the hard working designers in the class.

With every school that we reached, there were plenty of excited pupils and proud school staff. However, the success of this event won't just be judged on how much it was enjoyed, but also by how many accidents and injuries it may prevent through cycling safety awareness.
